Vino Mas September 2023 Wine Club Tamarack Cellars
09/06/2023
At Tamarack Cellars, it’s all about the wine. Founded in a World War II era firehouse in 1998 by Ron and Jamie Coleman, Tamarack’s first vintage consisted of 300 cases of Merlot.

More than two decades later, Tamarack continues to excel in consistently crafting award-winning, varietally correct wines barrel by barrel, sourced from some of the most renowned vineyards in Washington state.

Deb decided that we should make sliders for our recipes this month. Her thinking was to make dishes that would be easy to prepare for a group of people on game days, College or NFL, that would also pair with the wines. Some theories suggest that the term slider originated in the 1940s when sailors in the U.S. Navy suggested their greasiness caused them to slide down easily. Others say it was fast food chain White Castle that first began referring to their small, steamed burgers as sliders. Regardless of where the term originated, these days a slider is any mini-sized sandwich.

I made Cheese Burger Sliders to pair with the Cabernet Franc. These juicy, cheesy, appetizer-sized burgers are perfect for your next game day watch party. This Cab Franc is a juicy version of the varietal and has lots of fruit on the palate. I used Sharp, Aged, Cheddar for the cheese, it has just the right amount of flavor and fat content to help balance the light tannins in the wine, while tasting delicious at the same time.

Deb says "Fall is my favorite time of year and I want to make easy things for gameday. I look forward to enjoying more red wine with the cooler weather and watching HUSKER volleyball (football too)! These Philly cheesesteak sliders were so easy to make and can have more “kick” by adding jalapeno slices or red pepper flakes. The Tamarack Firehouse red blend is wonderfully juicy and loaded with the flavors of dark berries and plum. The combination of the caramelized onion and green pepper, along with the toasty notes from the Hawaiian rolls made this wine come alive. GBR!

For the Chardonnay the Shredded Chicken Sliders were perfect with the wine. The wine by it self is good, the wine with these sliders were heavenly! The butter, mustard mixture on top of the sweet Hawaiian rolls brought out the tropical fruit notes and the rich, complex layers in the wine. Yum!

All these sliders can pull double duty since they are both a delicious easy dinner or a perfect dish to show up with to any party! So quick. So easy. And so, so tasty!

****************
Tamarack Cellars Cabernet Franc:
NOTES: The Cabernet Franc has a concentrated and inviting fruit-forward nose, with aromas of tart cranberry and dark cherry as sell as a subtle herbal note. The palate has a pleasing and balanced acidity, with darker fruit than the nose, followed by hints of cedar, baking spices and milk chocolate and smooth tannins on the finish.

*************
Tamarack Cellars Firehouse Red Blend
NOTES: This red wine has wonderful aromas of dark cherry, raspberry and strawberry. Plush and round in the mouth, with blackberry, dark plum and a hint of dried herb, finishing smooth with rich tannins.

***************
Tamarack Cellars Chardonnay
NOTES: Aromas of Golden Delicious apple lead on the nose, followed by a pop of lemon curd and pineapple with inviting, rich layers of butterscotch and vanilla. Bright at the beginning, the palate is highlighted by mouthwatering acidity and flavors of classic Bartlett pear and vanilla bean, followed by a long, smooth finish.
