Vino Mas Dec Wine Club J Bookwalter Winery
12/01/2023
J. Bookwalter is one of the most recognized boutique wineries in the Pacific Northwest, relying on meticulous winemaking, exceptional vineyards and a decades-long commitment to excellence to produce some of the world’s finest wines.

I do not pair wines with recipes in the month of December, as most people will pour the December wines with friends or with their holiday dinner.  However, if you are planning to serve a Prime Rib for your holiday dinner, the Syrah will pair perfectly and if you are planning a traditional Ham for your dinner, the Red Blend and Un-oaked Chardonnay will be great with that.  Or just drink the wines by themselves and enjoy!

Readers Syrah

The Readers Syrah is very expressive aromatically with beautiful color shining through the glass. Rich royal purple hues gleaming through this wine really set the tone before you even take your first sip. The aromatics and flavors are ripe plum, dark chocolate-covered cherries, boysenberry, and wild forest fruits. There are also savory components that have come together harmoniously with the fruit aspects of this wine with forest floor and black pepper notes coming through. Unsweetened cocoa, chocolate truffle, and espresso expressions dance through the drinking experience. This wine is soft, juicy, and creamy in texture from your first sip to your last. This wine finishes savory with silky tannins.

Notebook Red Blend:

There's heaps of red fruits like black cherries, plums, red currants and figs wrapped with cedar, caramel and chocolate. Succulent smooth fruit begins, with flavors of bakers chocolate, black cherry, black berry, toast, dried herbs, tobacco and cola finish.

Readers Un-Oaked Chardonnay /Viognier Blend:

Medium straw hues with a touch of gold tones.  Aromatics of fresh lingering acidity Honeysuckle, chamomile, apple. The palate shows supple with hints of lemon zest and apricot; Rich mouthwatering feel. 80% Chardonnay and 20% Viognier.
