Wine Club December: Res Fortes Wines
12/02/2025
  Res Fortes Winery:
Moritz chose the Roussillon region and the village of Maury in the South of France as the place for his winery, knowing the potential for quality residing in the Pyrenees foothills where he purchased a 14 Hectare Organic vineyard and winery in September 2018. Since then, his wines have garnered a worldwide following.

Res Fortes wines have achieved critical acclaim from Decanter, IWSC, Wine Enthusiast, and other reputable publications, have been awarded 90 points and above numerous times, and have won Silver and Gold medals at the Global Rosé Masters as well as San Francisco International Wine Festivals.

The main red this month is the Res Fortes GMS that is expertly crafted from a blend of 60% Grenache, 30% Mourvèdre and 10% Syrah. Of the 60% Grenache around 20% of it is used for whole bunch fermentation to create an extra element of freshness and some extra mouth feel characters. Savor the full-bodied taste and rich flavors of this versatile red wine that will pair well with hearty winter meals.

The Main white is a blend. Using traditional winemaking techniques, this blend is carefully hand-crafted using a blend of Macabeu 20% and 50% Grenache Gris & 30% Grenache Blanc grapes, resulting in a delightful and refreshing dry white wine that is perfect for any occasion. I had lots of leftover Turkey and broth from Thanksgiving and made a Turkey Noddle soup to go with this wine. The wine was a great match for the soup.

The complement red is the Res Fortes Merlot Madness. Made from 100% Merlot, this wine boasts a youthful freshness that makes it incredibly easy to enjoy. It is a true testament to the essence of Merlot grapes.

Enjoy!

Res Fortes Red Blend:
NOTES: Highly aromatic and complex. Aromas of budding violet, dried rose petal, cedar wood, garrigue, and ripe red fruits such as currant, cherry, and plum. On the palate, darker fruits emerge alongside fresh herbs and spices. A versatile and food friendly wine.

Res Fortes White Blend:

NOTES:  Exquisite coconut and candle aromas lead to desiccated coconut and grapefruit rind flavors. Saline, brioche, and roasted almonds enrich the palate, with floral and citrus finish.

Res Fortes Merlot Madness:
NOTES: The aromas that emerge from the glass are a symphony of fresh red fruits, interwoven with subtle hints of spice. On the palate, Merlot Madness unfolds its velvety texture, allowing flavors of black cherry, strawberry and raspberry  intertwine seamlessly. Its well-balanced acidity lends a refreshing edge, ensuring a lingering finish that leaves a pleasant warmth in its wake.

NOTES: Our 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon opens with inviting aromas of cedar and bramble berry, complemented by subtle notes of Bing cherry. On the palate, it reveals vibrant red fruit flavors, with a warm, lingering finish that adds depth and elegance. This wine beautifully balances bold character with a velvety texture, leaving a lasting impression of refined complexity.
